The world’s youngest nation, the Republic of South Sudan, was established in 2011. Yet for over 30 years, nationals have carried out OM’s ministries in Sudan, including evangelizing unreached peoples, discipling new believers, and supporting local churches. OM team members are rejoicing over the growing church in South Sudan. However, the country faces internal conflict, in addition to instability near the Sudanese border.
The OM team in South Sudan, in partnership with local churches, endeavors to disciple and raise workers to see lives and communities transformed locally and among the nations. OM has set the following goals for itself in South Sudan: submit to God, sow the seeds of the gospel, see laborers raised, support and partner with local churches and seek to help the physical and practical needs of people in the country when necessary.
The South Sudan team recognizes its responsibility to spread seeds of truth throughout surrounding communities. Outreach venues include facilitating Christian book exhibitions, befriending neighbors, visiting prisons, and conducting Bible correspondence courses.
OM workers help equip local churches to build up believers by organizing training conferences for leaders and Sunday school teachers, leading summer Bible schools for children, and teaching in Bible schools.
Dynamic groups of committed locals are the heartbeat of OM in South Sudan. The ministry schedules regular prayer meetings, prayer emphasis days, study programs, retreats, and team days to refresh, challenge and encourage workers.
Thank You, Father, for the young country of South Sudan. We pray that the country would continue to have religious freedom and that conflicts in the area would not spread. We pray that national workers would receive the encouragement and financial support that they need as they seek to build Your kingdom at this strategic time.
Thank you for considering a gift to further the work of OM. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call us on 1-800-899-0432.
