Located in the southern Caribbean Sea, just 40 miles north of Venezuela, Curaçao is a stunning island nation made up of the main island and the smaller, uninhabited Klein Curaçao (“Little Curaçao”). With a population of approximately 159,000, its capital, Willemstad, is known for its colorful architecture and rich cultural heritage. Curaçao is a constituent country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands and, along with Aruba and Bonaire, forms the ABC islands—of which it is the largest in both area and population.

Curaçao’s economy is driven by key sectors such as tourism, shipping, oil refining and storage, and international trade and financial services. The island is home to a diverse population, with the majority being Curacaoan, alongside Dutch, Dominican, Colombian and other Caribbean and Latin American communities. The primary language spoken is Papiamento—a unique creole blend of Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch, English and French.
