France has a wealth of culture, history and people, but it is a country that is poor when it comes to Christianity

France boasts one of the richest cultures and histories in Europe, unmatched in its landscape and architecture. However, the nation remains spiritually poor, with only 8-12 evangelical Christians for every 1,000 inhabitants. 

OM in France partners with individuals and existing communities to create new, or revitalize existing communities, with particular attention to our three selected areas of ‘least-reached’ people in France.

These areas are:

Generationally Least Reached

This involves mobilizing Christian youth, inspiring them to reflect Jesus as they go about their daily lives. One of the main ways we do this is through TeenStreet, a week-long European congress for young people between the ages of 13 and 17. It takes place every summer in Germany, and attracts about 4,000 people. The goal is to encourage Christian youth, to nurture them, and to give them the tools necessary to confront the challenges of the coming year when they return home. Beginning with the outreach project at TeenStreet, young people are given the opportunity to share God’s love in the city which hosts the congress.

Geographically Least Reached

According to CNEF (National Council of French Evangelicals), the north/ central western area of France has several departments with fewer than 0.2 churches per 100,000 inhabitants. We plan to take an active role in the CNEF’snation-wide project ‘1 for 10,000,’ which aims to plant new churches in France, so that there will exist 1 church for every 10,000 inhabitants.

We are actively seeking to establish partnerships in some of these least-reached areas of France, working towards revitalising and creating vibrant communities.

Ethnically Least Reached

France is home to 37 people groups, numbering over 4 million people. To connect with people from these groups, we provide literacy classes for female immigrants in the Paris area, aiming to answer a practical need, while at the same time demonstrating God’s love by our words and deeds. We are also involved in ministries amongst Turkish-speaking people in France, helping communities of Turkish speaking believers to grow in their faith and reach out to others.
