Saint Lucia is a stunning island nation in the eastern Caribbean, located north of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and just south of Martinique. Its capital and largest city, Castries, sits along a picturesque harbor surrounded by lush volcanic mountains. The island’s rich cultural heritage is reflected in its people—primarily of African descent, with mixed, East Indian and other ethnic groups contributing to its diversity. English is the official language, while Saint Lucian Creole is widely spoken.

Thanks to a well-educated workforce, Saint Lucia has attracted foreign investment and seen improvements in infrastructure, including roads, communications, water supply and port facilities. Tourism and offshore banking are the island’s main sources of revenue, while agriculture—especially bananas, coconuts, cocoa beans, mangoes, avocados, citrus fruits and vegetables—continues to play a vital role in the economy.

Christianity is the dominant faith, however, materialism is increasingly influencing society, often undermining spiritual growth and church vitality.
