Earlier this year, three OM team members visited Elchin,* a new believer who runs a small shop just outside Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. Elchin launched his business after attending a training through OM’s microcredit program, an initiative that not only equips entrepreneurs with practical tools but also offers discipleship and guidance on leading Discovery Bible Study (DBS) groups. With ongoing mentorship, he’s learning how to grow both his business and his faith.
Elchin, his wife Ruqayya* and their daughter Leyla* are all new followers of Jesus. They live with Ruqayya’s mother, a devout Muslim who faithfully practices daily prayers. Though she comes from a different faith background, she’s open to hearing about Jesus.
During the visit, the OM team prayed with the family and shared Scripture. As they gathered near the oven, they asked Ruqayya’s mother if she had any prayer needs. She mentioned pain in her shoulder, and the team offered to pray in Jesus’ name. She agreed and was instantly healed.
Seeing this, young Leyla asked for prayer too. She had been experiencing pain throughout her body. The team prayed again, and Leyla was also healed.
In that humble shop, God’s power was made real. This family is experiencing firsthand that Jesus transforms lives!
