God is moving in northern Italy through simple acts of love and faithful presence.

In the Piedmont region of Italy, Roger and Elisabetta are sharing the love of Christ with elderly residents in five retirement homes around Asti. Through music, testimonies, skits and gospel messages, they’re creating space for spiritual conversations, and lives are being changed.

“It’s a very nice ministry because the elderly are very open,” Roger shares. “It’s great to see how the Lord opened the doors for the ministry. They are completely open, and we can share the gospel without problems.”

Each visit includes personal conversations, and when short-term mission teams come from abroad, they join in bringing joy, cultural exchange and the hope of Christ.

Accepting the Lord at 98

One powerful moment came in a village called Celle. Roger had been visiting a man named Joseph for months. Silent and withdrawn, Joseph never responded, until one day, during a message about eternal peace, he looked up, nodded and began to speak. For the first time, he confessed faith in Jesus.

“Do you believe Jesus is the Son of God? Do you think Jesus died for you on the cross to pay for your sins?” Roger asked.

“Of course, yes, I believe it!” Joseph replied.

Another resident, Giuseppe, accepted Christ at age 98. With tears in his eyes, he said: “All my life I’ve been waiting for this moment. Now I know where I’m going for eternity.”

These stories remind us: it’s never too late for someone to meet Jesus. And the gospel is still powerful to save, whether in a church pew or a nursing home hallway.

Roger and Elisabetta continue to visit faithfully, knowing that many residents are nearing the end of life and are still waiting to hear the good news.

“Just like these two men, there are many other guests in the nursing homes waiting to listen to the plan of salvation, so our commitment is to continue to go and preach the gospel,” Roger says.

How You Can Pray:

• Pray for open hearts among the elderly: Ask God to continue softening hearts in the retirement homes, especially among those who have never heard the gospel or have resisted it in the past. Pray that each visit would be a divine appointment, and that residents would respond to the message of salvation with clarity and faith.
• Pray for strength and encouragement for Roger and Elisabetta: Lift up Roger and Elisabetta as they faithfully serve day after day. Pray for physical strength, spiritual encouragement and continued favor with the retirement homes.
• Pray for urgency and opportunity: Many residents are nearing the end of life. Pray for a sense of urgency among believers to reach them with the gospel. Ask God to open more doors in other homes, raise up more workers and create opportunities for short-term teams to share Christ in meaningful ways.
